on a recent visit to my brother in san luis obispo, i saw (for the first time) a tractor-pull and a rodeo. it was very exciting and loud hearing the tractor pull the weighted sled.

i don't think the calves, steers and bucking horses used in the rodeo had as much fun getting wrastled, roped and tied up as i did watching them. i liked the barrel races though.

on the way up, this was almost our car:

we had a small electrical fire in the dashboard when one of my dad's car gagets (a mini fridge) started a fire. we arrived at my brother's house in flames. literally.

family bonding is fun. life-threatening perhaps, but fun.

i saw garbage play at the wiltern earlier this week and what a great show! after johnny cash's hurt introduced the group, they opened with queer, segued into bad boyfriend (from the new album) and rocked out supervixen follwed by stupid girl. at this point shirley had to stop and change from her spiky pumps to a sportier shoe because as she said, they "may not look as good, but they feel so much better." to which the mostly over-21 crowd cheered. the show was awesome and reminded me again why this band rocks.

i polished my car with mothers car wax awhile back. the shagmobile has a beautiful shine and dust can just be wiped off with a rag even weeks later. the only thing i've got to remember is the super-slippery surface means stuff i place on the car while loading groceries or purchases inside slip right off. yikes!

say hello to my new (to me anyway) toy: a dual 1.0 mhz G4 w/two 80 gb hard drives and 1 gig ram

about two weeks ago i saw stomp at the pasadena civic auditorium. what a great show and how amazingly clever those people are! they did this whole rythum thing with flicking zippos in the dark which was amazing. then a dance with metal folding chairs, one with brooms, and another with trash cans and one with actual garbage - some fast-food containers. i hope the performers wear earplugs because a job like that can really affect one's hearing!

i can't believe i hadn't seen this before now, but i just watched gross point blank the other night. well, i'd seen parts of it but not the whole thing. what a great movie! i love the quick and witty dialogue and of course, the geeky-cute john cusack. and for once, the female lead has great taste in music. funny, several scenes were shot in nearby monrovia, ca though in the film it's supposedly gross point, michigan.
