thanksgiving was great, my parents hosted a crowd of friends and family for dinner. among a ton of food, we had two turkeys, one smoked and the other baked, oyster stuffing, real cranberry sauce (no cans here!) and pumpkin bread pudding for desert. de-lish!
friday was an equally awesome day. i saw the new harry potter movie and enjoyed the helen stellar show at a great irish pub i want to visit again. tomorrow i'll be checking out all those tap-dancing feet during 42nd street at the pasadena civic auditorium.11/27/2005 12:02:00 AMi saw pasadena's doo dah parade (a spoof on the rose parade) for the first time today. i think my favorite was the hibachi grill team with their hot dog cannons (free hot dogs) and the claude rains invisible man drill team which was just clever. oh, and the marching houses and men of lesiure sychronized nap team and the get-a-life senior band from portland was great too! and the pug rescue march with their "power to the puggies" slogan was hilarious. it was a fun time and i'm glad i finally saw the parade.
i also saw the caucasian chalk circle performed by la salle high school. it was a sophisticated & challenging modern play.11/20/2005 04:13:00 PMtoday i cooked eggs in a cast-iron pan and "washed" it out with olive oil and salt per my friend amanda's recommendation. not only did it scrape off cooked egg gunk, but it seasoned the pan as well.
my dad converted his mercedes to run on soy oil gathered from a nearby chinese restaurant. his car exhaust now has a faint smell of cooking oil but it runs great on the nearly-free fuel!11/19/2005 04:53:00 PMdue to the sillyness of me, i forgot to return a dozen books before halloween and now owe over $15 to my library. until i can scrape up the cash, i can't show my face in there. and i used to pride myself on never having fines...11/17/2005 06:37:00 PMvisions of holiday crafting dancing in my head. it's not even thanksgiving yet and i'm already excited about my crafty holiday ideas. of course, most of them won't even get done but i am enjoying the brainstorming...homemade lip balm is of course on the list!11/17/2005 06:31:00 PMi spent yesterday exploring long beach with two good friends. we walked the beach to the ocean and collected shells. then we shopped for CDs at fingerprints on 2nd ave. (found a bunch of comp albums for only a buck each!) and dined at a yummy italian place where we sat out on the sidewalk enjoying the lovely ocean air. we then caught a movie in downtown where all the dance clubs are and people watched before our film started. we saw prime which was cute, though ticket prices for movies are so expensive! it makes me want to just watch everything on dvd. it was a very fun day, and we want to go back and explore more...11/06/2005 12:47:00 PMsome pictures from our halloween adventures: the front graveyard, the muppet monster we made, a pic of the trees with spanish moss, the porch when mom posed to hand out candy, and the homemade crypt, the giant glowing spider web (w/ baby victim), & another pic of the graveyard.
