it's time for a new hobby. and since arnold is our governator, i've been inspired to sign up for an intro body building class. there's a whole story in my displeasure of learning that running a mile on the track is considered a "warm up" to lifting but i'll spare you my anguish and loud lamenting. this class will be a great test of my personal discpline and commitment level.
today, we timed ourselves running a mile and my time was 11:19 and i post this here so i know what record i've got to beat in 6 weeks. i hope to actually be able to run all four laps by then. right now it's more of a run one, walk one kind of thing.
we also did military presses and a squat machine with which i can lift 55 lbs. and 130 lbs. respectively. these numbers i hope to laugh at one day but right now i'm damn proud of.
watch out arnold, i'm going to kick your ass!7/19/2006 05:40:00 PMjust say no. to caffine that is. i've been suffering from sever bouts of afternoon sleepiness despite getting a full night's rest and i realized the nice latte or mocha i've been drinking to help me make the most of my mornings before school is biting me in the ass big time. no surprise that i'm crashing later. so i'm swearing off coffee. again. which is funny because i spend a portion of just about every day slinging coffee and it's tempting to taste. and great timeing as i'm learning how to be an actual barista this week which will definately mean tasting my practice drinks. but seriously, crashing from too much coffee is not worth it. now i'm all about the tea...:-P7/10/2006 12:23:00 AMwho thought it'd be a good idea to take a math class? i'm relearning algebra with surly high school graduates at the local city college who are hoping the professor will take pity and pass them despite failing quizess and exams.
peters is getting into some fights with another kitty or his shadow. he keeps coming home with scrapes and i keep wanting to keep him inside, protected and air conditioned. but my orange sweetheart is loving his freedom and loudly demands it in my ear every morning.7/03/2006 09:45:00 AM
