the boy and i did more gastronimical exploration with lunch at bloom cafe to try their lemon ricotta cheese pancakes. they were not as good as i hoped they'd be (cheese! pancake! how can you go wrong?!) but the minted lemonaid was tasty. i was impressed by the boy's fresh coconut milk, served in the actual coconut. very tropical. just like what you can buy on the streets of echo park.

we determined that the crumbs devil dog cupcake effectively beat out sprinkle's limited edition carmel apple cupcake. cupcake research continues to be the best part of wedding planning.
and we enjoyed dim sum lunch on sunday after bible study and church. we had a lovely coconut and taro pudding.
tonight we'll be having english food at beckham grill and then in celebration of halloween, attending a performance of wicked, hee! three cheers for witches!10/30/2007 10:53:00 AMnew fall love: pumpkin bagel from noah's bagels. sometimes smeared with pumpkin cream cheese.
best served with a cup of coffee from peet's.10/26/2007 12:25:00 PM
after our lovely experience at a cheese co-op in berkley called the cheeseboard, the boy and i were happy to discover the culinary delights of the silverlake cheese store in our own town. we enjoyed a wonderful lunch on saturday of four different types of cheeses, mixed olives, and fresh bread. cheese grommet!
wound up the day wandering the shops of area fueled by a fresh, clover press brewed cup of coffee from intelligentsia cafe. for those not in the know, a clover press is a vacuum press coffee brewer for individual cups of brewed coffee, like a single pulled espresso shot. excellent!
10/24/2007 09:29:00 AMthree things:
i fell in love with drip coffee again. sometimes you just need a break from something to remember why you like it so much. i've been drinking super-tasty but filling lattes from peet's the past 6 months but today i had regular urn-brewed coffee. it surprised me at how good it tasted with cream/sugar (not too sweet!) and how effective it was at keeping me alert.
i watched a water polo match on my break from math class. it is an odd sport. it seems to involve lost of ball-tossing and splashing. whenever they threw the ball at eachother and missed the catch, a good splash in the eyes is the result. i kept closing my eyes in reflex. even if i wore goggles, i don't think i could get over flinching. i am not destined for water polo greatness.
i saw several slim girls flashing their hip and pelvic bones in low rider fashions. it makes me both sad that they're parading their body bits about and envious that i can't flash mine, it's hidden under too many layers of skin and chub.10/06/2007 11:59:00 AM
